On 18th April 2018, the delegation of CGSS and All Pakistan Newspaper Society (APNS) led by Major General Hafiz Masroor Ahmed, (Retd) - Vice President CGSS met with Shanghai United Media Group (SUMG) in China. Established on October 28, 2013, SUMG consolidated Shanghai’s two leading newspaper groups - Jiefang Daily Press Group and Wenhui–Xinmin United Press Group. SUMG now publishes more than 20 newspapers and magazines, operates two publishing houses and has over 8,000 staff members. In this meeting, the discussion was focused on SUMG’s commitment towards developing digital media platforms for future development. The group has overseas correspondents in more than 10 countries and regions across the world. The group has established strategic partnerships with world renowned media groups. SUMG is developing cooperation with major universities in the world to develop think tanks and sponsoring high level forums.
This meeting was arranged by the strategic partner of CGSS in China -Guangming Daily (The largest Chinese language newspaper in the world). It was decided that CGSS and SUMG will work together in areas of mutual interest such as joint research and marketing analysis on media collaborations. SUMG is keen towards cooperation with All Pakistan Newspaper Society and CGSS.
