Roundtable Session on “Corridors Of Knowledge For Peace And Development Across Silk Road”


On 5th December 2018, Center for Global & Strategic Studies, (CGSS), Islamabad and Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) jointly organized a Roundtable Discussion on “Knowledge Corridors for Peace and Development across the Silk Road” at Margala Hotel, Islamabad. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Lieutenant General Muhammad Zahir Ul Islam, Chairman CGSS. The aim of the conference was to discuss the emerging global trends, where the countries are embarking on more inward-looking policies and to highlight the. Impact of future nationalist policies on various multilateral trade agreements, global solidarity, social policy, trade and development. The panel discussed the need for establishing a knowledge corridor and communication network that generates, shares and disseminates knowledge, to increase peace, harmony and cooperation within the region while facilitating trade under the BRI. It highlighted the importance of a knowledge corridor within the region for moving towards regional and trans-regional integration, in today’s world of big data, for the success of the BRI. The event was attended by approximately 30 to 40 representatives of think tank, diplomats, academia and members of civil society.
