Interactive Session on “Pakistan-Uzbekistan Relations and Enhancing Academic Institutional Cooperation”


On 3rd April 2019, CGSS in collaboration with Area Study Centre, University of Peshawar organized an Interactive Session with His Excellency Furqat A. Sidikov – Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Pakistan on “Pakistan-Uzbekistan Relations and Enhancing Academic Institutional Cooperation. During the session His Excellency stated that a roadmap for boosting bilateral trade, investment and economic cooperation must be devised and agreed to continue collaboration in all areas. He expressed his desire to witness a rapid increase in the bilateral cooperation in the coming years and ensured full support. Furthermore, he stated that Pakistan and Uzbekistan must organize various tourism, cultural, scientific, technical and educational exchange programs which will further enable both the countries to boost their bilateral relationship.

a. Prof. Dr. Shabir Ahmad Khan – Director, Area Study Centre, University of Peshawar, Peshawar
b. Lieutenant Colonel Khalid Taimur Akram (Retd) – Executive Director, Center for Global and Strategic Studies (CGSS), Islamabad
c. Prof. Dr. Azmat Hayat Khan – Former Vice Chancellor/Former Director, Area Study Centre, University of Peshawar, Peshawar
The panelists were of the view that enhancing the Academic institutional cooperation can give a new direction to the bilateral ties between Pakistan and Uzbekistan and can pave the way for very meaningful engagement between the two countries which will provide further boost in the days ahead.
