On 5th May 2020, The State Committee on Work with Diaspora, Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan jointly organized an exclusive International Online Conference with the Center for Global & Strategic Studies (CGSS), Islamabad on the topic, “Role of Pakistan's Diaspora in Economic Development of the Country”.
The conference was moderated by Mr. Vugar Mammadov, Head of Cooperation, State Committee on Work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Lieutenant Colonel Khalid Taimur Akram (Retd)- Executive Director CGSS, discussed the role of Pakistani diaspora worldwide. Mentioning the statistics of the Pakistanis living abroad, Lieutenant Colonel Khalid stated that the Pakistani diaspora is making notable economic contributions. Furthermore, he stressed the importance of having stable multilateral relations to support regional peace and stability.
Ms. Mehreen Gul- Director CGSS, explained the key role of Pakistani women diaspora in various countries particularly the British Pakistani women in the UK Parliament. Moreover, she emphasized the remarkable contribution by prominent women in the banking sector.
Summiya Mukhtar highlighted the role of Pakistani student diaspora. She further mentioned the significant contribution of the student diaspora to Pakistan’s economy with the help of skill set achieved during their years of education.
The Online Conference was attended by 25 participants from Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
