Fifth Session of the Online Internship Program “Contemporary Dynamics of Azerbaijan”

On 17th August 2020, fifth session of the Online Internship Program “Contemporary Dynamics of Azerbaijan” was held. This internship program is initiated jointly by Center for Global & Strategic Studies (CGSS), Islamabad and Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Pakistan.
Theme for the third week of this internship is related to “Importance of humanitarian & cultural ties in strengthening close friendship & fraternal relations between the people of Azerbaijan & Pakistan”
The session was commenced with the remarks of Ms. Mehreen Gul, Director, CGSS and Program Coordinator of the Internship Program. She highlighted the importance of people to people contact in strengthening bilateral ties with Azerbaijan.
Mr. Ilham Mammadov, Counsellor at the Department for Asia of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan was the speaker for this session. Mr. Ilham explained the cultural similarities between Azerbaijan and Pakistan. He also discussed the religious similarities in context of the important Islamic historical places in Azerbaijan.
He further discussed that Urdu and Azerbaijani language have many similarities, they have more than 7000 common words. Pakistan and Uzbekistan also have similar cultural festivals and celebrations that bring people of both countries closer. Mr. Ilham appreciated the efforts of Pakistan in taking effective measures to further increase the humanitarian and cultural ties and stated that, student exchange programs and tourism opportunities will further enhance the brotherly ties between Azerbaijan and Pakistan.
It is note-worthy that people from across Pakistan have enrolled for this exclusive Internship program. This program will improve people to people contact between both countries and result in improved diplomatic relations.
