Sixth Session of the Online Internship Program “Contemporary Dynamics of Azerbaijan”

On 21st August 2020, sixth session of the Online Internship Program “Contemporary Dynamics of Azerbaijan” was held. This internship program is initiated jointly by Center for Global & Strategic Studies (CGSS), Islamabad and Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Pakistan.
Theme for the third week of this internship is related to “Importance of humanitarian & cultural ties in strengthening close friendship & fraternal relations between the people of Azerbaijan & Pakistan”
The session was commenced with the remarks of Ms. Mehreen Gul, Director, CGSS and Program Coordinator of the Internship Program. She emphasized that cultural similarities and cultural ties are the most important factors in strengthening bilateral relations of Azerbaijan and Pakistan
Dr. Zarmina Baluch, Lecturer, Department of Political Science, Islamia College University Peshawar was the speaker for this session. She explained that the overall outcomes of cultural relations are greater connectivity, better mutual understanding, more and deeper relationships, mutually beneficial transactions and enhanced sustainable dialogue between states, peoples, non-state actors and cultures. Ms. Zarmina also highlighted the cultural similarities and historic ties between Azerbaijan’s city Ganja and Pakistan’s city Multan.
She also discussed that Azerbaijan is connected with Pakistan in several ways one of them is also the humanitarian assistance by Azerbaijan to Pakistan in times of need. Heydar Aliyev Foundation on the basis of humanitarian cooperation aided to several local Pakistani social welfare institutions and charitable organizations such as Hamza Foundation, Khayber Eye Foundation.
Furthermore, on April 08, 2015, victims of flood disasters were provided with humanitarian aids by Azerbaijan International Development Agency (AİDA).
It is note-worthy that students from across Pakistan have enrolled for this exclusive Internship program. This program will prove to be a milestone in improving the bilateral diplomatic relations of Azerbaijan and Pakistan.
