Second session of the Online International Course on “The Community with Shared Future: Leading to a New Inclusive World” jointly organized by Pakistan Research Center for a Community with Shared Future, Communication University of China, Beijing, and Center for Global & Strategic Studies (CGSS), Islamabad

On 2nd February 2021, the second session of the Online International Course “The Community with Shared Future: Leading to a New Inclusive World” was held This course is jointly organized by Pakistan Research Center for a Community with Shared Future, Communication University of China, Beijing, and Center for Global & Strategic Studies (CGSS), Islamabad. The theme of the second session was “Shifting from Clash of Civilizations to Dialogue of Civilizations: Stabilizer of the Changing World” and the speaker for this session was Dr. Zarmina Baloch, Lecturer, Department of Political Science, Islamia College University, Peshawar.
She initiated the discussion by highlighting the historical background of the theory of Clash of Civilization and discussed the ideas proposed by Hungtington, Fukuyama, and other theorists as well. She highlighted that Clash of Civilization focused more on the hegemony of the US and confrontation among different civilizations. However, President Xi Jinping proposed the idea of shifting the clash of civilizations to the dialogue of civilization.
Dr. Zarmina emphasized that he is the only contemporary leader, who has upheld the idea of Dialogue of civilization to promote a community with a shared future. He has played a very vital role in shifting from clash of civilizations to dialogue of civilization. Other states have also participated in this vision of cooperation.
Moreover, she highlighted that the vision will foster cooperation and bring peace in the regional and international security discourse. She also elaborated that this broader vision geared up by visionary leader President Xi would allow nations to collectively learn from each other’s cultures and respect each other’s identities.
Dr. Zarmina further said that despite some limitations, all civilizations are equal and grand ideas like these would make mutual learning possible. Through dialogues, peace and equality will prevail. Furthermore, she explained that the dialogue process would help nations to collectively solve global and multilateral issues. For example, poverty, global warming, climate change, and other imminent challenges.
She concluded that as the world is a global village, promoting cultural exchange would have a positive outcome for civilizations.
Moreover, she appreciated that students from all across Pakistan are a part of this online international course. This course will enable them to understand the idea of a community with a shared future and its positive impacts on the development of countries.
