Third session of the Online International Course on
“The Community with Shared Future: Leading to a New Inclusive World” jointly organized by Pakistan Research Center for a Community with Shared Future, Communication University of China, Beijing, and Center for Global & Strategic Studies (CGSS), Islamabad


On 3rd February 2021 the third session of the Online International Course “The Community with Shared Future: Leading to a New Inclusive World” was held. This course is jointly organized by Pakistan Research Center for a Community with Shared Future, Communication University of China, Beijing, and Center for Global & Strategic Studies (CGSS), Islamabad. The theme of the third session was “Community with Shared Future: Foundation of the New Inclusive World” and speaker for this session was Dr. Pek Chuen Khee, Associate Professor & Head of UCSI Graduate Business School in UCSI University, Malaysia.
He initiated the discussion by highlighting China’s vision for a new global order to build a world of common security for all through joint efforts and to achieve common prosperity through exchanges and mutual learning.
He highlighted that the concept of a Community with Shared Future is a world order closely connected to the United Nationas Sustainable Development Goals. Moreover, the aims of China’s Belt and Road Initiative also overlap the United Nations SDGs.
Dr. Pek stated that China aims to achieve a win win situation for all partner countries. The vision of a Community with a shared future is a new global order that China would like to introduce in the world. Furthermore, China also aims to promote clean and green development, keeping in view the damages done to our environment and climate, it is important for our community to address this issue.
The concept of a community with shared future also addresses the issues of peace, security, prosperity, and inclusivity for making this world a better place. As China upholds the idea of world peace and the pursuit of common development to foster long lasting partnerships and multilaterism.
He mentioned that the model of Community with a shared future can work hand in hand with the Sustainable Development Goals. Emphasizing on the three main goals of a Community with Shared Future that are prosperity, security and green development he connected these goals with SDG 11, 13, 14, 15.
Thse SDGs are meant to achieve green development, low carbon emissions and to develop more sustainable cities and communities in the world. Similarly SDG 12 states that we must be more responsible in terms of consumption and production, and that is the goal of Belt and Road Initiative as well.
Dr. Pek also highlighted that the community with shared future is encouraging more discussion, mutual learning, lot of dialougues and consultations with partner countries. Discussing the Ecological civilization and Two Mountain Theory proposed by President Xi Jinping, he stated that President Xi realizes the importance of sustainable green growth, and clean water for all.
He concluded by appreaciating the idea of this Online Course that provided an opportunity for healthy interactons and dialougues.
The session was moderated by Ms. Laraib Fatima Hassan, Communication & Coordination Manager, CGSS.
It is notable that students from all across Pakistan are a part of this online international course. This course will enable them to understand the idea of a community with a shared future and its positive impacts on the development of countries.
