Seminar on Pakistan’s Counter Terrorism Narrative and Future Discourse


On 21st August 2017, the Center for Global & Strategic Studies (CGSS) arranged a Seminar on “Pakistan’s Counter Terrorism Narrative and Future Discourse” at Islamabad Club. The guest speakers included:
    a. Mr. Cesar Guedes- Country Representative United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime Prevention (UNODC)
    b. Mr. Ahmer Bilal Soofi- Former Federal Law Minister
    c. Lieutenant General Haroon Aslam HI(M), (Retd)
The occasion was graced by Lieutenant General Muhammad Zahir Ul Islam HI(M), (Retd) - Chairman CGSS and Major General Syed Khalid Amir Jaffery HI(M), (Retd) - President CGSS moderated the interactive session.
The aim and focus of the Seminar was to analyse in detail the national counter-terrorism narrative of Pakistan and the rational behind fighting terrorism. The necessity to fight the menace of terror and what dangers it entails for national survival if not properly tackled were also highlighted as it poses biggest threat to the economic, social, political development of the country. The event brought together government representatives, armed forces officers, diplomats, law enforcement officials and students from across the country and individuals from public and private entities.
