Roundtable Session on “Mahalla System – as an institution in Uzbekistan”


On 19th September 2017, the Center for Global & Strategic Studies (CGSS) arranged a Roundtable Session on “Mahalla System – as an institution in Uzbekistan” at Islamabad Club. The guest speakers and the topic of their presentations are mentioned below:
    a. H.E. Furkat Sidikov - Ambassador of Republic of Uzbekistan - “Mahalla Institute” as an institution
        of citizen’s self-government in the social and political life of Uzbekistan
    b. Mr. Babur Suhail - Vice President CGSS - “Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanism in Pakistan”
    c. Mr. Tahir Alam - Former Inspector General of Police - “Integration of Police and Local Bodies -
        Evaluation Through Times”
The occasion was graced by Major General Syed Khalid Amir Jaffery HI(M), (Retd) - President CGSS and Ambassador Amjad Majid Abbasi – Member Advisory Board CGSS moderated the interactive session.
The aim and focus of the Roundtable Session was to highlight the effectiveness of Mahalla System and its implications in Pakistan. During the session Dr. Asif Ali - Vice Chancellor MNS-University of Agriculture Multan also enlightened the participants about the Mango Festival in Tashkent on 27th – 28th July, 2017.
Ambassador Furkat Sidikov also formally inaugurated the webpage launched by the CGSS for “International Partners” on its website.
About 60 people including the senior members of CGSS Advisory Board, government representatives, retired armed forces officers, and diplomats attended the Roundtable Session.
