International Conference “Central Asia: Shared Past and Common Future, Cooperation for Sustainable Development”


CGSS delegation headed by Major General Hafiz Masroor Ahmed (Retd) – Vice President CGSS attended the International Conference on the “Security and Sustainable Development in Central Asia under the Auspices of the United Nations. The topic of the conference was “Shared Past and Common Future, Cooperation for Sustainable Development and Mutual Prosperity” at Samarkand (Uzbekistan) on 10th – 11th November 2017. The subject conference was attended by delegates from 25 countries and was graced by the President of Republic of Uzbekistan. The foreign Ministers of all Central Asian countries, Iran, Afghanistan, India and Pakistan’s National Security Advisor were among the 350 delegates. CGSS has the honor of being the only think tank from Pakistan that was invited in this United Nation’s event. Mr. Ashfaq Gondal - Former Federal Secretary, Government of Pakistan and Senior Member Advisory Board CGSS, Mr. Sikander Lodhi - Member Advisory Board CGSS and Lieutenant Colonel Khalid Taimur Akram (Retd) - Director CGSS also attended this prestigious event.
The issues of Regional stability and security challenges including the need for sustainable development were discussed during the said conference.
