Twelfth Session of the Online Internship Program “Contemporary Dynamics of Azerbaijan”

On 11th September 2020, the Twelfth session of the Online Internship Program “Contemporary Dynamics of Azerbaijan” was held. This internship program is initiated jointly by Center for Global & Strategic Studies (CGSS), Islamabad, and the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Pakistan.
The theme for the sixth week of this internship is related to “Economy of Azerbaijan. Achievements and Priorities. The session was commenced with the opening remarks of Ms. Mehreen Gul, Program Director, she mentioned the importance of this internship program and also emphasized on the importance of increasing bilateral ties with Azerbaijan in different departments especially Economy.
Mr. Jawad Majid, Director Silk Bank and renowned economic expert was the speaker for this session.
He discussed the economy of Azerbaijan in detail and discussed the various avenues of opportunities that are flourishing in Azerbaijan including the energy sector as well as the Oil & Gas sector. This has also helped them to increase their annual GDP .
Pakistan enjoys strong brotherly ties with the Republic of Azerbaijan and both countries have been closely working together in many different fields. It is important to devise a plan to increase this cooperation especially in the business and trade sector. This will result in development in the economies of both countries.
Mr. Jawad Majid also highlighted that Pakistan is keen to work with Azerbaijan in the oil and gas sector and is also interested to discover new business opportunities. Moreover, he discussed the potential of youth especially in entrepreneurship . Azerbaijan is introducing new policies in SMEs and Pakistan can also practice this model.
It is noteworthy that students from across Pakistan have enrolled for this exclusive Internship program. This program will prove to be a milestone in improving the bilateral diplomatic relations of Azerbaijan and Pakistan.
