Seventh Session of the Online Internship Program for Students of International Relations and Related Fields organized by Center for Global & Strategic Studies (CGSS), Islamabad

The seventh session of the internship program was held on 28th September 2020 on the theme, Pakistan-Uzbekistan Bilateral Ties. This internship program is organized for the students of International Relations, Defense & Diplomatic Studies, and other related fields to equip them with firsthand knowledge regarding International Affairs and the Contemporary geopolitical arena. This internship program also aims to help students in developing analytical and research writing skills.
Lieutenant Colonel Saad Ullah, Chargé d'affaires of Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Pakistan was the speaker for the session. He gave a comprehensive lecture on enhancing Pakistan-Uzbekistan bilateral ties and the significant reforms being taken in Uzbekistan for the development and socio-economic progress of the country. Lieutenant Colonel Saad Ullah briefed the participants regarding the progressive reforms taken under the able leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The reforms focus on the introduction of new mechanisms in various sectors such as Pharmaceuticals, Tourism, Judiciary, Chemical Industry, etc.
Lieutenant Colonel Saad also briefed the participants regarding the priority areas of the reforms which include improvement of state, Judiciary, Economy, and development of the social sphere. Furthermore, he elaborated on the gender-sensitive measures taken by the Visionary leadership of Uzbekistan. According to Lt. Colonel Saad, the Uzbek Government has actively worked for the empowered status of the women of Uzbekistan by ensuring the protection of their rights and interests.
Lastly, Lieutenant Colonel Saad briefly talked about the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Uzbekistan and mentioned that there are great opportunities available for further cooperation in areas of tourism, private industries, and the pharmaceuticals industry for both the countries.
He also highlighted that Pakistan & Uzbekistan have played an important role in the Afghan peace process and both countries wish to see peace and prosperity on the Afghan soil.
The session was moderated by Ms. Palwasha Nawaz, Project Executive, CGSS.
It is note-worthy that students from all across Pakistan are enrolled in this Online Internship Program. This program will prove to be a milestone for the students of International Relations as it is helping them in understanding foreign policy and important analytical skills that will help them academically and professionally.
