Eighth Session of the Online Internship Program, “The Contemporary Non-Traditional Security Challenges” organized by Center for Global & Strategic Studies (CGSS), Islamabad

On 16th February 2021, the eighth and last session of the Online Internship Program, “The Contemporary Non-Traditional Security Challenges” organized by Center for Global & Strategic Studies (CGSS), Islamabad was held.
The internship provided an opportunity to the students to understand the contemporary global non-traditional challenges, gauge the existing potential, build resilience and find the solutions to mitigate the daunting impacts of these transnational issues.
The theme for the eighth session was, Border Security and Illegal Migration, and the speaker of this session was Prof. Masud Ahmed Malik, Member Board of Experts, CGSS & Renowned Criminologist. During the session, Mr. Masud covered all the fundamental aspects of border security and illegal migration. He highlighted the causes of the crimes carried out at the borders. He elaborated the important terminologies related to the border security and migration. He also highlighted the scope of border security, migrant’s movement and its impacts on the global, regional and state level. Prof. Masud comprehensively discussed the provisional laws related to the border security and explained the situation of Pakistan’s border. Prof. Masud stated that now Pakistan has adopted a robust policy framework related to the border security and illegal migration. The session was moderated by Ms. Maryam Raza, Research Associate, CGSS. It is noteworthy that the students from all across Pakistan were enrolled in this Online Internship Program. This program has proved to be a milestone for the students of International Relations & related fields to understand the contemporary dynamics of Non-Traditional Security Threats.
